Three pricing models

Booksy vs Fresha vs KERSIVO: cost at a glance

Booksy, Fresha and KERSIVO charge in different ways, so the headline monthly price rarely tells the whole story. Before comparing totals, it helps to understand what each pricing model is built around.

  • A base monthly subscription
  • An extra monthly charge for each additional user
  • Optional Boost, which can charge a one-time fee for qualifying new clients

£14.95/month + VAT

Booksy pricing

How much does Booksy cost in the UK?

Booksy’s UK pricing starts with a base subscription, then adds a monthly charge for each extra user. Marketplace bookings are part of the standard model, and Booksy Boost is an optional paid acquisition feature. Checked against Booksy’s official UK pricing and Boost pages on 17 September 2026.

Checked · Booksy UK Pricing

Additional users
£5/month each + VAT
Standard Marketplace
Standard Marketplace bookings are free when Boost is not enabled
Booksy Boost (optional)
30% of a qualifying new client’s first visit, minimum £5, charged once
  • Booksy lists its UK subscription and additional-user prices plus VAT, so the amount a shop actually pays is higher than the headline figure.
  • The Boost fee is a one-time acquisition fee for a new client Boost brings in, not a charge on that client’s later visits.
  • Payment-processing fees apply separately when card payments are taken through Booksy. Online deposits use Booksy Mobile Payments at 1.29% + £0.20 per transaction plus VAT.

Fresha pricing

How much does Fresha cost in the UK?

Fresha prices its UK software by the number of bookable team members, then adds a one-time fee for brand-new clients who find you on the Fresha Marketplace. Bookings through your own direct links don’t carry that fee. Checked against Fresha’s UK pricing page and Help Centre on 30 September 2026. Fresha lists UK rates exclusive of 20% VAT.

Optional add-ons
Smart Website £12.95/month, Client Loyalty £49.95 per location/month
  • Fresha defines a bookable team member as a team member with a calendar column that can take bookings. Custom Enterprise rates apply above 20 team members.
  • Returning clients never trigger the Marketplace fee, and Fresha applies a maximum cap to the fee for higher-value services.
  • Fresha Payments is optional, but Fresha’s deposits and no-show protection run through it.

Team size

How team size changes your booking software cost

Each platform reacts differently as a shop adds chairs. A pricing model that looks inexpensive for one barber can look very different for a full team, and the reverse can also be true.

  1. Solo barber

    One chair, one calendar

For a single barber, the entry plan matters most. Per-person pricing has only one person to charge for, so the gap between platforms often comes down to marketplace fees, add-ons and payments rather than team charges.

  2. Small team

    Two to four barbers

Once a few barbers take bookings, per-user and per-team-member charges start to add up. How much depends on whether a platform charges per additional user, per bookable team member or for the location as a whole.

  3. Larger barbershop

    Five barbers or more

In a bigger shop, the team-size part of the bill can become the largest fixed cost. Marketplace usage and payment volume also grow with the team, so the full picture depends on how the shop actually wins and takes bookings.

No single platform is cheapest at every team size. The calculator lets you enter your own number of bookable barbers rather than relying on a typical shop.

Marketplace fees

Booksy Boost and Fresha Marketplace fees explained

Booksy and Fresha both run consumer marketplaces where clients can discover new barbershops. Each charges differently for clients who arrive that way, and both separate them from clients who book you directly.

Standard Booksy Marketplace
Standard Marketplace bookings are free when Boost is not enabled. A shop can be visible on the Booksy Marketplace without paying a per-client acquisition fee.
Optional Booksy Boost
Boost is an opt-in promotion feature. When it brings a qualifying new client, Booksy charges a one-time fee of 30% of the first visit, with a £5 minimum.
Fresha Marketplace new-client fee
Fresha charges a one-time fee of 20% of a brand-new client’s first appointment, minimum £4, when that client first discovers you on the Fresha Marketplace.
A one-time acquisition fee
Both Boost and the Fresha new-client fee are charged once for winning a new client, not on every later visit. The cost per client depends on the value of that first appointment.
Direct vs marketplace-acquired bookings
Clients who already know you and book through your own links are not marketplace-acquired. Only genuinely new clients introduced by the marketplace should be counted against these fees.

VAT

How VAT changes the real cost

Competitor prices are often listed before VAT. Booksy shows its UK prices plus VAT, and Fresha lists UK rates exclusive of 20% VAT. The amount that leaves your bank account is therefore higher than the headline price.

For a VAT-registered barbershop, the effective net cost can differ from that cash cost, depending on your own tax position and whether you can reclaim input VAT.

KERSIVO is not currently VAT registered, so no VAT is added to the KERSIVO subscription.

The calculator shows cash cost and estimated net cost separately, so you can see both views side by side.

VAT treatment depends on your business circumstances. Check with your accountant for your own VAT position.

Payments

Payment processing costs

Payment processing is a separate cost from the software subscription. The calculator can optionally compare one like-for-like flow: the same £5 online booking deposit taken through each platform. It does not model the remaining appointment balance, in-person card payments or retail payments.

Booksy Mobile Payments
Booksy deposits run through Mobile Payments at 1.29% + £0.20 per transaction plus VAT, checked on 1 October 2026.
Fresha Online Payments
Fresha applies its standard online payment rate of 1.40% + £0.25 per transaction plus VAT to online deposits.
KERSIVO via Stripe Checkout
KERSIVO deposits are processed by Stripe Checkout, with no KERSIVO fee on top. The KERSIVO estimate assumes the connected barbershop pays Stripe’s standard UK card rate of 1.50% + £0.20, checked on 1 October 2026. Premium UK and international cards cost more.
What is not modelled
Refund-related processing costs are excluded, and each modelled deposit is rounded to the nearest penny. Processing rates can change, so check each provider directly before deciding.

Worked examples

Cost examples for different UK barbershops

Worked examples make the differences easier to see. These scenarios will be calculated from the same official pricing and the same methodology as the interactive calculator, rather than estimated by hand.

  • Solo barber

    1 bookable barber

Entry plans compared side by side, with the effect of marketplace clients, add-ons and VAT on a one-chair business.

  • 3-barber shop

    3 bookable barbers

How per-user and per-team-member charges begin to separate the platforms in a small team.

  • 5-barber shop

    5 bookable barbers

Monthly and 3-year costs for an established shop, with and without marketplace-acquired clients.

  • 8-barber shop

    8 bookable barbers

The team-size effect at scale, alongside optional add-ons and payment processing.

Scenario figures will be generated by the calculation engine and published alongside the interactive calculator.

Methodology

How the calculator works

The calculator compares estimated costs using your own inputs and each platform’s published UK pricing. These are the factors it uses.

What goes into the calculation

  1. Number of bookable barbers
  2. Appointments per month
  3. Average appointment value
  4. Marketplace-acquired new clients
  5. Optional Booksy Boost
  6. VAT status
  7. Optional add-ons
  8. Optional booking deposit processing
Direct bookings stay direct
Clients who book through your own links are not counted as marketplace-acquired, so they never attract marketplace fees in the calculation.
No assumed marketplace parity
Marketplace fee comparisons do not assume every platform brings in the same number of new clients. You set marketplace usage yourself.
Official sources only
Competitor pricing comes from official UK pricing pages and help centres, with the date each source was checked shown below.
Estimates, not quotes
Pricing can change and every shop is different. Results are estimates to support a decision, not a quote from any provider.

FAQ

Booksy and Fresha pricing questions

Straight answers on subscriptions, per-barber charges, marketplace fees and which platform costs less.

How much is Booksy a month?

Booksy’s UK base subscription is listed at £40/month + VAT. Additional users are listed at £5/month each + VAT, so the monthly cost can rise as staff users are added.

How much does Booksy cost in the UK?

The subscription is £40/month + VAT, with additional users at £5/month each + VAT. On top of that, optional Boost can charge a one-time fee of 30% of a qualifying new client’s first visit (minimum £5), and payment-processing fees apply when you take card payments through Booksy.

Does Booksy charge per barber?

Booksy lists £5/month + VAT per additional user. For a barbershop, team growth can therefore increase the subscription cost depending on how staff users are configured.

Does Booksy take commission?

Standard Marketplace bookings are free when Boost is not enabled. If you turn on optional Boost, Booksy charges a one-time acquisition fee of 30% of a qualifying new client’s first visit, minimum £5. Payment-processing fees are separate.

How much is Fresha a month?

Fresha’s UK Independent plan is £14.95 a month for one bookable team member. Its Team plan is £9.95 per bookable team member per month. Both are listed exclusive of 20% VAT.

How much does Fresha cost?

The subscription is £14.95 a month on the Independent plan or £9.95 per bookable team member on the Team plan, plus VAT. Fresha also charges a one-time fee for brand-new Marketplace clients, payment-processing fees when you use Fresha Payments, and separate prices for optional add-ons.

Is Fresha free for businesses?

No. Fresha’s UK pricing page lists paid subscription plans, starting at £14.95 a month plus VAT for one bookable team member. Bookings through your own Fresha booking links don’t carry a new-client fee.

What are Fresha fees?

Beyond the subscription, Fresha charges a one-time Marketplace fee of 20% of a brand-new client’s first appointment (minimum £4), payment-processing fees on transactions through Fresha Payments, and monthly prices for optional add-ons such as its Smart Website.

Does Fresha charge per barber?

Yes, on the Team plan. Fresha charges £9.95 per bookable team member per month, plus VAT. A bookable team member is someone with a calendar column that can take bookings.

What is the Fresha Marketplace fee?

It is a one-time fee of 20% of the first appointment value, minimum £4, for a brand-new client who first discovers your business on the Fresha Marketplace. Returning clients don’t trigger it, and Fresha applies a maximum cap for higher-value services.

Is Booksy or Fresha cheaper for a barbershop?

There is no single answer. It depends on your team size, how many new clients come through each marketplace, which add-ons you use and how you take payments. Booksy adds a charge per additional user, Fresha charges per bookable team member, and their marketplace fees work differently. Comparing both with your own numbers is the most reliable way to decide.

Which booking system costs less for a larger barber team?

It depends on your team size, how many new clients come through each marketplace, which add-ons you use and how you take payments. Pricing based on bookable team members or additional users can grow with the team, while a flat per-location price such as KERSIVO’s stays the same as you add barbers. Marketplace fees and payment processing can still outweigh the subscription difference, so a larger team should compare the full cost rather than the headline price.
